Anyone else seen green pigmentation on their Reeftech Starburst caps? Been watching this one develop for the last few months. This is piece of the original Reeftech Starburst cap, from the originator.

Over the last few months random streaks and splotches of green have been developing on one of my pieces. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. It would appear somehow that green pigment has grafted itself into this cap, as if it wasn't cool enough already! This has never happened to me before and it's only on this one piece; not even sure how it started. There continue to be more and more dots showing up on random spots. It's pretty cool. Wherever the green grows through an area of polyp, the polyps turn a neon green color instead of the yellow. I've tried taking a couple of small fragments with the green pigment and they have continued to grow out with the green streaking through the tissue.

Here are a couple pics I've taken of some of the affected areas.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how it developed. As I was asked by another person, I don't have any Pocillopora, nor do I have any green acros in that tank for that matter! Only green corals in the tank are some montis and I don't recall them ever coming in contact with the Starburst. Nearest coral is the Nautispiral monti. I've had this coral for a couple years and it only started to develop these green streaks recently (like in the last 6 or so months).

I had the same thing happen with mine. I wish it was as bright as that though. It also wasn't spreading like yours. Not the best pic because I was trying to shoot the hallucination, but you can see a green line on the left side

had a blue chalice once before hurricane sandy killed it and all my other livestock, anyway it got burned by my torch and decided to grow with orange streaks after it healed and continued to grow blue with orange tiger stripes...wish i still had it

Mine never did that, but I know of three people who have gotten frags from me that have had that happen. Cool looking! Wish mine would do it!

Sounds like this is a good one to grow out and see what happens. Might get crazier as it matures.

I was thinking of trying to graft my starburst. Now that I see it done there is hope.

Thats pretty sweet i have a 6" colony but no green yet. Will be interesting to see if it develops or not

Very cool. I am looking forward to seeing this with my Starburst cap :).

Hello Nano fins is there a chance you will sell a frag of your monti? If so how much are you selling it for?

My starbust cap is very similar. I believe its GFP, or green florescent protein. The longer I have mine the more green it develops.
