I would like to replace my coral beauty because he is picking at my sps,I thought about replacing him with a Starcki damsel, does anyone have any experience with this fish? My wife liked the coral beauty but will be satisfied if I can find a similar type fish, any other suggestions of a peaceful or less aggressive fish would also be appreciated.

Frankly, just the word "damsel" scares me a bit. What else is in your tank? It's going to be moderately aggressive best-case scenario. Just looking for something purple and yellow or is the body shape important? I'll see what else I can come up with.

How about a nice, pricey Anampses femininus? If that's too steep there's always a rhomboid fairy wrasse. Don't know if it is any better but I'm on the hunt for a Venustus Angelfish, same family as your angel though.

I have 2 yellow tail damsels and one Neon Velvet, the yellow tails bite me anytime my hand is in the tank.... oddly my twins find it gut busting funny!

I have a yellow wrasse, 2 clown fish ,cleaner wrasse and a coral beauty, I would like to replace the coral beauty with something blue because my wife likes that fish she is mad because I am having to get rid of the coral beauty, I have had the coral beauty for 2years but it has developed a taste for my sps`s,that is why I am having to get rid of it.I am looking for a peaceful fish that doesn`t want to watch TV on the carpet! Something blue! I need a cheap redneck budget, please! lol

How safe is Venustus Angelfish with SPS?

Wrasses and anthias are my favorite non-aggressive and reef safe fish . The Purple Queen anthia (Psudanthias tuka) may fit your the coloration you're looking for. I know the reef has had them before, may be able to get them still.

I'm thinking about adding one too. Anyone have one of the Starcki damsels? What's their temperament with clownfish and dwarf angelfish?
