Starfish - good or bad? Keep or ditch?

What kind of starfish is this? Should I keep it or no?

Asterina starfish. Usually not a problem but some have had mass population issues. I don't remove mine and have had no issues.

Thank you. I didn’t realize asterinas were green. For some reason I thought they were only white!

Asterina, we had issues with them and zoas. My opinion, remove them as they can populate a tank quickly.

Yeah, but a large population of them and you can support a pair of Harlequin shrimp

Ours cleared out hundreds in a matter of weeks. Had to start feeding chocolate chip starfish to the harlequin. That was just one harlequin

Never had one but always thought they were the coolest looking shrimp. So how quick do they go through a chocolate chip star?

They are awesome, he would climb on our hands. A medium size starfish lasted about a week, little more. Ours got pretty big.

Didn't realize they went through them that quickly. Guess if they ate the whole thing instead of just the feet it might last longer.

He did eat the whole thing. It was wild, he was like a little pit bull dragging him into his cave.
