Just got home today and came to look at my tank and saw my star fish like this. Is it just eating or dying?

Probably dying. Also looks like it’s on its back. Blue linkia star is almost impossible to keep alive.

may as well take it out before it messes up your tank, as it is not going to live no matter what. Those blue linkia stars are very difficult if not impossible to keep long term in a tank

Thats great and all but now yet another animal has to die due to not doing research prior to purchasing...

Starfish do have the ability to basically ‘vomit’ their stomach to digest prey...

It’s unfortunate that so many LFS still carry them. The proverbial ‘should be left in the ocean’ animal. It’s just not clear what they eat. I tried one a while back in a huge reef tank with a lot of live rock ..... same sad result. Won’t try again.

Agreed, unfortunately those who own lfs’s always sell them due to just how easy they are to sell and usually take a while to perish, so the lfs is clear of any wrong doing. Ya they are beautiful for sure!
