Starfish ID

Harlequin shrimp my bad. But if you don't have enough stars to feed him you will have to end up buying choc chip stars to feed them. Or maybe start a thread to get a bunch from different ppl.

This is a screen cap of a video from a while back, going after one of the hundreds of Asterinas that WERE in my tank haha

When did you first notice the Asterina's and how long did it take for them to get up to 100? What size tank was this?

Looks more like garden soil then sand! Haha

lol!!!
Took about a month to get them out. People have faster success buying in pairs, but I didn't think I needed it. He cleared my 55g in about 2 months. Maybe a little less.
I wanted to keep him but didn't want to risk an entire choc chip star around my coral. And it freaked me out when I tried to cut his legs off to feed...

I don't have any probs with the asternia's...yet. I find them to be a good part of cuc. If you're not sure throw him in the sump.

I don't know anyone with one in my area. Maybe a treat for the Bubbletip? He just ate though so it'll be a few days. I'll see if my buddy wants it for his sump.

I don't know if you know this but asterina's drop their own legs in order to multiply. I had one with only one and a half legs. It looked like an arrow or shark's tooth. Quite bizzare. Their extreme regeneration abilities are astounding. I have never been able to keep up with their total erradication. They should be called 'the rabbits of the sea'...sea rabbits.

I appreciate it! I wrote that it looks as if he dropped some legs. I'll keep an eye out for more!

Yea those things you'll find all shapes and sizes. That one has 6 legs. I've tones of single legged ones runnin about. It's a little freaky, it's like the "Thing" of the saltwater world lol

Haha. Sounds crazy. Marvel or D.C. Needs a villain based off the Asterina!

Just noticed this on the bottom of my War Coral. When I rearranged the tank I made sure it was no longer dug into the sand. How cool! An oyster of some sort!? Maybe I'll start a new thread.
