Asterina

Thought that but It’s Big real big. 3” in diameter Big. I found it wrapped around one of my sps colonies. I have been loosing some sps lately, could this be the culprit?

There are many species of Asterina. The small irregularly shaped ones are most common but that does look like one. I'd put money on that being a coral eater...

Wow, that would be a new one for me at that size. Sure looks like an Asterina in color and mottling but I don't know if they get that big.

I may have exasperated my first comment. Kinda like when I catch fish and fib on the exact size.

More like 2” diameter. Either or it’s in my sump now.

I'd say a polyp eater for sure. Can't ID specifically but we've pulled asterinas that were very large from the reef tank. Doesn't look like a typical asterina shape but I'd bet it's been munching the acros.

For sure the biggest I’ve seen. And I Think it’s fair to say I’ve seen my share of Asterina stars.
