Will my starfish live or should I just put him out of his misery?
I'm not sure how it happend and can't find the rest of him.
I don't have aggressive fish in my tank but I have a power head that's the only thing I can think of that could have done it.
So what should I do?

From my personal experience I had a starfish that lost 2 legs and a piece of the middle disc . It lived , regenerated, and is still going.

Oh man. I have had some BAD luck with those guys. Every one I've had has melted before my eyes. Beautiful but for me... I can't seem to keep them alive.

If the starfish simply "lost" its limbs, it typically is a sign that it's starving. Now if it lost them because of a powerhead, there's a chance they'll grow back.

Do you have any harlequin shrimp or anything that may eat starfish? Any predator fish?

My tank is 4 or 5 month old maybe older I don't have any shrimp in it right now all I have is 2 clown fish 2 yellow gobys a lawn mower a diomond goby and a cucumber and snails and crabs

Starfish are typically very hard to keep alive in new tanks. Seems the tank must be established and mature before there's enough food for them to thrive.

Filmatious algae found on established stuff(live rock, glass, sand). Unless a large system most eat it faster than it can regrow and starve out.
