Ok so what's everyone's take on hitchhiker star fish? I have white ones & whit bottom ones with darker (like gray or kinda bluish) tops. Some people say they eat zoas, others say they don't. How do you know which are good & which are bad?

Yea, those colored ones are the bad ones. The white grey ones are fine, the ones with tint are the munchy ones.

I hear people say one thing then another about them so to be on safe side I toss them all why risk

A few years ago they all were considered 100% reef safe then someone saw one on a coral and assumed it was eating the coral they now get a bad rap just like bristle worms lol Iv had tons of these in my tanks and never had one kill any livestock so for me and my opinion there great to have in our tanks, the day I see one eat a coral(and not algea on the coral) then I'll be sure to admit I was wrong lol
