Looks like either a bristle star or brittle

Labyrinthula?

Growth is a Labyrinthula. It's really hard to explain what kind of life form it is (not an animal, plant, fungus, etc) so feel free to try to read the wikipedia page on it, but I will warn you it's a lot of information. Shouldn't be harmful in your tank but some species act as pathogens and have been singled out as the cause of starfish wasting disease here on the eastern pacific coast (your's isn't the same species)

Thanks for all the suggestions. A Labyrinthula seems to have arms and these are straight like a worm. I’ve been observing them and they are not multi armed, but single creatures. Looks like a brittle star, but without multiple arms.

The size of these seems to match. I can't see a center from where they are coming out. I wonder if spaghetti worms can shed their tentacles to act like individual creatures?

It does look like a bristle, but these seem to be a single creature without any other arms.

Looks like mucus web from a Vermetid snail or strand from a medusa worm but my best guess is digitate hydroid

I’ve had vermetid snails be the hundreds before, the strand is much thicker and darker than those.

The pictures I see of digitate hydroids seems to have a “head” and small fibers coming out the sides of the body…… these things are perfectly smooth, or so they seem.
Is there a smooth digitale hydroid?
