Starfish?

This might be completely nothing and just a random starfish.. But I just recently saw this guy despite never seeing before. Only new addition to tank in months was a carpet anemone that was dipped. Any ideas?

Its an Asterina Star. They just about appear in every reeftank. I've never had issue with them bothering any of my corals but I have seen then eat unhealthy or dying zoas and star polyps. They can get introduced from just the liverock or livesand.

Yes actually. I wasn't really sure if I could or could not.. so I just went for it cause It was my first one and didn't know any better. It didn't seem to really mind the dip honestly rather than him detaching from the littler rock he came with and tried attaching to the bottom of the bucket through the drip acclimation. I dipped it in CoralRx for about maybe 5-10 minutes?

Well, you're a lucky guy.
A anemone is a invert and not considered a coral.
Corals are ok to dip but inverts have a nerve system that will be damaged by the iodine in the dips and can be deadly.
Maybe you're lucky and eased of the total amount you had to use or the time frame, any ways never do it again.
Next time use a fresh water dip and QT for a week to be safe to remove parasites and bacteria.
A anemone never carries any pest as these will be stung and would not survive long term.

Aren't they all in the class Anthozoa which are all inverts? Ive never dipped healthy anemones before but I always dip ricordeas and other mushrooms using Melafix.

Correct but over the years and that been a lot I have never heard that some one killed a mushroom or ricordia when dipped.
And yes IMO they don't need to be dipped either.
Now Anemones is a different story, ppl still dip their $800 carpet and find it weird that within 24 hrs it rolls over and melts away......... you wonder

Thank you for this. Lesson learned! So happy it all worked out well. It came from Petco which I definitely did not trust to add into my tank just hoping for the best. Are freshwater dips for only anemones? I have a few corals coming in on Friday and was just planning on dipping them. I am one of the people who unfortunately does not have a quarantine tank set up just yet for my tank :/

Its always a good idea to dip new corals. If your worried about introducing unwanted critters I find that melafix works best for me. If you're worried about disease or infection an iodine based dip will work fine but I only use melafix these days and it works great.
