Sick or eating or pooping?

What are your water parameters and how long has it been in the tank?

All my parameters are fine
I’ve only had it for two days, the guy at the store told me that he will pretty much feed himself, what should I feed him?

Any chance you can give us more specifics? Telling us your parameters are fine doesn't help much...how was he acclimated to the tank?

I drip acclimated him for about an hour, water temperature is 80-78
Salinity is 1.026, so I will fix that,
Ammonia is 0
Nitrate 20
Trite 0
Ppm 180
pH 7.8

1.026 is actually pretty spot on. 1.023 to 1.026 is well within range. Are there any other inverts in the tank showing any signs of distress or anything?

"Classic" sea stars (as opposed to serpent / brittle stars) very often look just fine . . . until they're not. Very often, they're poorly acclimated at some point in the chain, and they're rarely properly (or even at all) fed between the sea and your living room.

Sea stars poop from the "aboral end" - up top. This guy's probably in pretty bad shape, I'm afraid.
