can anyone identify this starfish I tried google has not worked for me lol.
 
Although it's too late now, once you put something in your tank it should NEVER be returned to the ocean even if it's at the exact same spot you caught it!

The reason you should never do so is because of the possibility (probability?) of introducing some sort of invasive pest into the local ecosystem. Just like a small amount foreign of water can cause problems in your home system, so to can that tank water contaminate your seashore. Think Caulerpa in California. Lionfish on the Caribbean.

I'm not saying that, if legal, you shouldn't take local fauna. If I lived in Florida or along the Gulf Coast I'm sure there would be something local in my tank

Good news is stayed in the same water and never made it to my tank. I had it in water I found it in
