Starphire

Starfire is low lead glass. Clearer, gives a truer view of the corals, fish, etc. Kind of like the clarity of acrylic without the scratching potential. Here is a side by side from the glasscages.com website with regular glass on the left and starfire on the right:

I have Starphire glass on the front and sides of a 280 gallon tank. Adjacent to it is a 38 gallon bowfront with regular glass. IMO there is a difference. There is better clarity on the tank with the Starphire. It cost us about $200 more then it would have with regular glass. Given how much the tank was anyway it doesn't seem too much to have paid for the upgrade.

I have a 360 starphire glass frag tank. I took pictures of it unfilled and you can barely see the tank on the stand. If it wasn't for the overflow and sides it would be hard to tell there is a tank.

Yeah, no question about the clarity. One thing though: The one that I own scratched just with placing live rock and scraping the side. The scratch was minor (took a few months for me to notice), but then I did it again. Of course, not as bad as acrylic, but I've not scratched "green" glass so as to see it in a filled tank, even with live rock avalanches. Just a good thing to know, for some people, maybe.

yes, by making the glass low iron it's does scratch much easier then regular glass. mine does have it's few scratches
