The question is that a safe addition to my clams tank? (I got more than 10)
I've read and got most reported that Starry Blenny is safe with clams but for how long? (some reported that Starry start to snip clam mantle after sometime in tank)
When its devoured all the algae then would it be interest to try out the clams mantle? LOL
I like that fish but I can't risk killing all my prize clams with a 10 dollars fish
Also, once it's in my tank it will be impossible to catch it without tearing down my tank a part hehehe.

A starry blenny shouldn’t bother your clams at all, just keep him well fed to be on the safe side:)

I had a maxima for 3 years, added a starry about 6 months after the clam. Had no issues for 2 1/2 years until about 2 weeks ago. Caught the starry not only nipping, but biting and tugging the clam mantle. Tried to move the clam out but ended up losing it from the damage the starry caused. So yes, starry’s will nip clams.

Yeah, I tried to contact most folks that keep Starry with clams and they said it's safe for few months (7 months to a year) then it's started to snip on clam mantle.

You have it for that long and its still become bad buddy for the clam, sorry for your lost. I'll gonna pass the Starry Blenny although I freaking love it personality in most tank I saw on Youtube.

That's an issue for me, I don't want to use auto feeder and only feed my live stock 2 times a day, so I'm sure I won't give the blenny enough food through out the day in between schedule feeding time, and at some point it will devour all available algae in my tank and it would feel hungry and can't resist the tasty clam mantles lol

Yeah, the starry is the fish that made me want to get a saltwater aquarium almost 19 years ago. I was definitely upset losing the clam but I don’t think I’ll have a reef without a starry. Maybe I can talk my wife into letting me start a clam tank...
