Is this normal. I moved my Starry from QT to the DT on Saturday, I've seen him go from his normal dark color to a pale almost white color on his body to the top of his head a few different times now. He never did this while I had him in quarantine. He seems to be eating fine and adjusting well to his new surroundings! Thanks!

Wow, I've never seen that. My Starry use to be able to turn his stars on and off.....but never go white with black stars. I'm following along. Interesting.

Interesting, but kind of freaking me out! :)

I was just starting to get used to my One Spot changing color and now the Blenny! This is definitely an interesting journey!

Just sent you a PM (conversation) about your white guy.

That color contrast is pretty intense. Usually those displays are reserved for conspecific rival or potential spawning partners, but as you can see, not always reserved for these occassions.

This has definitely been a learning experience. He just came over near the glass and sat on his tail, he didn't seem stressed and none of the other fish were near him. It will be interesting to see if this continues or if it's just because he's in a new location. Thank you TJ!

Please keep us informed with your guy.

As I mentioned, mine turned his stars on and off, and I could never figure out what triggered this.

One thing was for certain, he had a personality. He would come out and greet me when I entered the room. And those funky eyes would follow you around. I also had to be careful when I turned powerheads off for feeding. He'd go into the powerhead and sit there and watch everything going on. One of my most favorite fish that I had. Unfortunately he ended up carpet surfing.

I will definitely do that! He also has a lot of personality, he will actually come up and take mysis from my fingers, well he did while he was in the QT, hopefully he will do so again now that he's in the DT! I'm sorry you lost your fish, I'm hoping the screen on my tank will keep everyone confined! Thanks Paul!

Mine does the same thing. Exactly like yours white with black trim.
Did you know that it would change color like that or were you surprised like I was! It's a cool color morph, once you know it's normal.

I was surprised then after keeping fish for so many years I know a lot of fish can change color. This might be it's breeding color.

The color changing is something that is/was new to me! I won't be so panicked next time! :)

Its near the breeding colours. You see a dark head but in the only time I've seen it in the flesh, the body was more of a salmon colour and not white.

So I noticed mine this morning and decided to search on here and this was the first thread that popped up. Definatley a surprise and at first a little concerning. The first picture is on a normal day and the second is what I saw this morning.

This is awesome to know! My starry blennies sometimes seems like he has bluish irrodescense when the blue lights are on. Sometimes he looks a little lighter brown, but that's it so far. I love the way their head stays still while their body moves and hangs down.
