My LFS has them in stock and I think the colors look a lot better than the regular Lawnmower. Are they also a lot more omnivorous and therefore easier to feed than their Lawnmower cousins? Do they have to be “trained” / weaned off algae to accept prepared foods?

Of the 2 I've had(both jumped), both like frozen better then algae. While they still grazed on alage, they would eat every time I fed the tank meat.

I personally like them better then the lawnmower. They have great personalities, and can change the color of their eyebrows and whiskers. When their happy and white, they look like old men. lol

Ouch lol, sorry to hear that they jumped! Did you not have a cover back then? How long did you have them for?

I think they look great. Would they bother Bottom dwellers like Gobies or other blennies?

Other blennies, most certainly. Will chase and nip till one dies. Never had an issue with them and clown gobies though(warpaint, citron)

Yes, I have always had a screen top. But forget to put it on, or when I was new I left to big of a gap. I'm currently looking for another, it's the one fish I think I will have in every tank. Not in a hurry, so I won't order online. When I happen into an LFS and they have one, it'll be living in my tank.

I honestly think they mow just as much algae as their lawnmower cousins, but look cooler and have better personalities. IMO

Ask the LFS to throw some food in the tank and choose one that eats.

I feel lawnmowers do better. Starry blennies look better though. This is my lawnmower blenny fighting with my 6-7 inch sailfin tang at the time. He had no regrets and scared it off. He also takes algae rides on sheets in the flow lol.
EDIT: My large diamond goby doesn't bother it and vice versa, but i have a mated dragonet pair and the male will fight the blenny. So that is something to watch for.

Are you referring to your experience that the Lawnmowers are easier to keep and take prepared foods more readily?
If you are referring to me then either choice you make they will both eat meaty foods and are easy to keep, I feed krill, PE mysis, and reef frenzy, and a full size nori sheet for solid foods and it eats what it can catch. It will try and eat large krill pieces but ends up spitting it out since it's to big. No matter your choice you should still supplement nori sheets as that is what their diet needs. But from my experience Lawnmowers take food, of all kinds easier and are just pigs.

Mine needs to go on weight watchers. Look at this belly. Almost looks like a swim bladder issue LOL

Lol he’s a cute little guy!

Did you face any specific problems with Starry Blennies when it came to keeping and feeding them?
No just have some nori if you don't have algae on your rocks. The Lawnmower just picked up on eating meaty food slightly faster. It also eats algae/nori faster, a reason why i said they were better above because they do their job of cleaning algae better then a starry, a reason most people get a blenny for(algae control)
No matter your choice you will be happy and either will eat meaty foods, just remember to supplement nori sheets too.
You can get 100 large sheets rather cheap off amazon.

Iv noticed my starry blenny will anything it likes the smell of. It doesnt like the algae sheets i put out but loves the gold pods, any live pods i happen to put in, it likes mysis shrimps as well.
