I have a mature lawnmower blenny in the 180g tank. I recently aquired a nice sized (+2")Starry Blenny. Will the two be okay in the 180g? The lawnmower does roam the entire tank. Thanks in advance!

In your opinion which do you like best because, I am deciding between the two

The starry for looks. They are a pretty shy fish IMO as the other starry I have doesn't come out much whereas my lawnmower just goes and goes! Also, if a fish tries to intimidate the lawnmower, it stands its ground where the starry retreats.

It will probably be OK in that big a tank. One will stay on one side, the other on the other side. Doesn't always work out that way though.

That was what I was hoping... Just some concern with the lawnmower as he will not take anything from anyone! He doesn't bother the Citron Goby however....

Blennies can look after themselves starry blenny are great characters i reckon they'll be fine and ignore each other in the end

What else do you have in that tank?
I like both those fish and would love to have both.
i had a starry blenny in my 90 and it beat up my Mccosker wrasse to the point where i had to get him out of there.
let me know what happens

The starry blenny is doing fine now. Occasionally Starry chases the Lawnmower blenny but it hasn't lasted long. You were right on Humblefish!. The Starry in the other tank is still continuing to hide until feeding time....

Our latest starry took out 3 lawnmowers before we decided to just keep a rock blenny in the frag tank. In my experience their timid entrance is short-lived and they quickly rise to be a more dominant fish in their community. I enjoy watching him wrestle the seaweed away from our Tangs and rest on his bed of Zoas.

I liked my starry. didn't feed him for a week so hes eat some algae, then fed him some LRS and after that every time I went to the tank he was out and happy and swimming waiting for food lol little fella was like a puppy.

well you could always do what I did lol starve em for a week then feed them lol I mean, its not like he was starving. he destroyed the algae buildup lol

@Christina, what size tank were the blennies in? I'm hoping the 180g is big enough to support both of them....

@Dtackett, hopefully mine will be like a puppy :0)[/QUOTE We have a 240. It's more of a territorial issue than food. A Starry can be a bit like Tangs in the sense that the starry,lawnmower, and Rock blenny are similar in appearance. Our LFS said it is a common occurrence but Yours may get along just fine.

Try Reefcrack. That usually pulls all the fish out of hiding!
