It's been a couple of days since I put the live rock and dry rock in my 55gallon. 12lbs of live rock and about the same of dry. About a 3" bed of live sand. PH of 7.6. Salinity roughly 1.023-1.024. Temperature of 77'F. Today I bought a big bag of raw uncooked shrimp. One big bugger sitting in sand now to hopefully get the cycle going. The rest of the bag fried in butter and garlic and now digesting nicely in case you were wondering. Is it weird that I am excited this early on? My son and I (he is 12) have been avidly reading the cycling guide on this site and I think he will be just as excited to see slime as he will be the first coral we put in. Thanks all for providing such a great site for interaction.

Getting everything setup and starting the cycle is aweosme. I would sit in my office chair and just stare at the tank with nothing in it haha.

Will that be all the rocks you will be using
Because in my 6 months experience lol
I went though two tanks (long story)
But I used my live rock from old tank and let it cycled then I attempted to add more rocks later but it seems I had to start the cycle process all over again or my parameter was off for three weeks

My plan is to keep adding rocks at $10lb for live I didn't want to get carried away. If the cycle stalls I will start it again. Not planning any livestock until I'm sure I have a good cycle going
