Started Up A 54 Gallon Corner! Question AB LR!

Hello everyone. I just started up a 54 gallon corner tank. I saved one piece of LR with some of the corals ive grown over the last few years. The questions I have is, Can I put this LR with the corals growing on it in tank while the cycle starting or will it kill the corals I currently have? Thanks

Live rock without coral is what you need to get your tank started. I'm assuming this is a new tank and not a transfer from one tank to another, right? When we upgraded, we used all our water and the rest was RO, so we had no problem doing a direct switch. However if this is all new water, you definitely should not put the coral in.

I used Live Sand when I set it up 2 days ago. Havent put any LR in yet. Didnt transfer anything from the old tank. All new sand and water. About to add the LR without corals on it.

Good luck!! Are you dipping the rock? We never did, but we don't have a normal setup, we live on the water and our whole system started as a research of local wildlife. It was fun, and we learned alot, now we know what isn't welcome and what makes a great addition. Once the tank was a year and a half we upgraded from a 75 to 150 with 55 gallon fuge and went reef. We just found some awesome local stuff recently including a pore coral! Keep us posted on how your system goes.

No I didn't dip the rock I had. The only thing I did was somewhat wiped it down and rinse all the debris off the rock. I will def post some pics.

Update on the tank. I did get the LR I had without corals put in the tank. Also got my LED moonlights installed on canopy. Will post a pic later on today. Also thank you guys for your help!
