So I had planned to build a new larger tank but financials are not in line with my goal. So the new plan is to refresh my current 100G tank. let it run for a year or two while I save up for the new tank. This will give me time to refresh equipment in preparation of the new build.
What does everyone recommend for trying to keep some of my favorite corals to put in the new tank? My issue is I dont want to keep my rockwork. I may keep a few pieces but overall I want to start over with my aquascape. I plan to go minimalist and most of the rocks were epoxied together in specific shapes or are larger round rocks. I figure I really have to treat this refresh as a start over from scratch. That means I have to cure rock and do the whole multi month cycle. Thats where the challenge lies. I have a 40G breeder that I can use to house some corals. Has anyone had success keeping corals alive in a not reef ready tank during an upgrade? For how long? I will probably not have much of a filter system running so I know I will need constant water changes. How much and how often should I change water. Tank will be bare bottom with some egg crate to keep the corals upright. Most of the corals I have are larger so I will be cutting frags and selling off the rest of the colonies. I plan to keep a few SPS, some zoas, hammers, torches, blastos and other lps.
