I have a 4 foot 4 fixture compact fluorescent on a 5 foot tank. I want to mount it on a pulley-crank system with two LEDs on each end for ease of access to the tank for maintenance (mind the fact that i!m hoping to save money by going with the dimmable Chinese LEDs everyone talks about). I suppose its a two part question I'm asking because I want to know what peoples take on the China LEDs, and whether you think (in conjunction with my compacts) I will have sufficient lighting for a heavily stocked sps tank.

I've never had much luck finding much info on any of the Chinese lights in regards to PAR or spectrum so I can't say that it will be enough. Unless you can find that info I wouldn't go for them.

The Chinese Lights will cost you the same in the long run.
Most use dated Bridgelux knockoffs or non binned Cree LEDs. This will give you less efficiency and a vague spectrum.
If your on a budget consider what the cost of a heavily stocked SPS tank is and then replacing them.
Another more probable outcome is the inexpensive light will fail after a year or so, then you have to replace it and re acclimate as the LED Fixtures today will be different than those sold a few years ago.
Consistency is KEY to good long-term SPS growth...Radical changes in light on a biannual or regular basis does not help.
