hi everybody!! im new to your world , the saltwater world :-) but im not new to aquariums.
ive been keeping several planted aquariums for close to 4yrs now and i think i have master the balance of keeping planted tanks.
here are a few of my tanks
135gal

55gal

anyway i wanna try my hands on saltwater reef setup. can you guys guide me thru :-)
I have a 37 gallon tall tank. (L30 1/4" x W12 1/2" x H22 3/4 ")
my first purchase is a skimmer, i found this at CL for $40

I have a limited budget so ill buy all my equipment at craigslist :-)

I've been building my reef for prolly 2 months now and have gotten alto of stuff off of craigslist/friends. However, some things are best to be bought new like heaters and powerheads limo. I love your planted tanks!

hey thanks mans! :-)

yes ill buy the heater and power new but for live sand, live or dry rock, lights and maybe skimmer ill buy it at craigslist.

Try and always go +1 on filtration like skimmers and that are you going to have a sump?

no, i dont have a sump, plan is just skimmer and HOB (aquaclear) with soft corals, low stock of fish.

you can go softies and lps with just a hang on back filter. my wife has a 40 breeder with zoas, gsp, and duncans. they seem fine even under a low powered led light.

hi russ265, thats what i am targeting less equipment, low maintenance simple set up.
just make sure your liverock is very porous and you have enough of it. you should be just fine.
