Hi everyone! I am thinking about starting a 5.5 gallon saltwater tank. I have one sitting empty and a perfect spot for it. I have a 36g bow front that is saltwater and love it, so of course I want to start another. I was thinking I would eventually have a shrimp, a snail, a couple blue leg hermits, rock and sand. I know it could be a great quarantine tank for future corals for my 36 gallon. Thoughts, opinions, tips? I appreciate any help as I'm still fairly new to the saltwater side.

You could do it. I think if it is going to a coral qt, those are better without rocks and what not (unless you are strictly doing for disease purposes and not hitchhikers or algae). You just need to make sure to top it off daily

I want it for a small tank display in my family room but thought it could double as a qt tank for coral. Was hoping to have a little rock and at least a cleaner shrimp! I know I will eventually need a snail and a couple blue legged hermits or maybe one scarlet hermit. Was thinking Astreae snail would do nicely.

5.5g is fine and your plan sounds good. It can run on just some water changes. I find that tank size very easy as long as you change the water and top off for evap.

You could also do a bunch of sexy shrimp and rock flower anemones. That would be really neat. I love pretty much any type of shrimp
