What would be the best way to start a frag tank? How long before I could put sps in it? Low bioload

29 gal 250 watt Mh ushsio bulb
Kick start bacteria. Escape salt egg crate for frags

No substrate ..... Should I add a little live rock?

I have a small aio frag tank. I have a couple of pieces of live rock in the display and rubble in a chamber.
I would start slowly like any tank it is going to need to cycle.

I was planning to throw turbo start bacteria to speed that process along. With a fish and snail maybe shrimp

Keep us up to date. I have thought about doing the same thing. I am interested to see how things turn out.

I will..... From what I read majority have it plumbed into there systems. I wouldn't be able to do it , completely standalone.
So I need to know from my fellow reefers it's a possibility and how long till it's good to take on sps

If starting from scratch I would add some LR. You may consider a 40 breeder for extra depth over the 29.

+1 on the live rock or live rubble....if you can find some cured healthy rock your tank will be ready in a day or two...no sand no bio load water and live rock....i just set up a 75g frag tank Sunday and have tons of zoas in there by Monday....loaded the sump with a sock and 30lbs of live rubble from my main system....gl

Thank u for all ur responses! I do have a main tank but it would be impossible to plumb due to location

i took some LR rubble from my display, stuck it in my fuge on my frag tank..SPS was added a few days later. never had a problem
