so I am considering pulling the trigger on my first salt water tank and I was wondering if someone(anyone with more experience than me) would look at the list and tell me if I have this going in the right directions! Can I cut cost anywhere and still have the right setup! Thoughts?

Supreme classic pumps are good. I see you've got a mag 7 on the list. There are usually people selling used pumps on local for sale forums. If you want to cut costs a little, I'd look there. I'd even suggest an upgrade depending on the height of water you'll be lifting (head pressure). At 0' the mag 7 does 640 gph. At 1', it does 530gph. 3' it does 460gph, 5' 390gph. Your setup probably would be around 3' so it's probably 460gph. A bump up to the mag 9.5 gives you 740gph at 3'. And if you choose to split the return lines, this is an even better decision.

The grounding probe is what, about $15 bucks? I'd say take that off the list. Same with the digital thermometer. They usually go out in a few months and are definitely not as reliable as a conventional thermometer.

Koralia powerheads are good and I've had over a decade of use out of around 4 each, pretty crazy. But I'd go with something that has random flow. Jebao WP-10 on ebay maybe. They're about $40. a) have one heck of a moveability. b) random flow. c) crazy wave production. I have a larger one in one of my tanks that's going on 3 years and it's comparable to vortechs (super expensive). Definitely look up 120g jebao powerhead on youtube.... you'll see what I mean.

These are all MY suggestions anyhow. Others may tell you differently and I'd definitely consider what everyone has to say. The best thing to do is to look up a TON and I mean A TON of information about the best products and then the best of the cheaper/knockoff products if you want to get your money's worth out of a cheaper item. Definitely a mandatory move. Take it from me, who has thrown away hundreds maybe thousands of dollars on products that are on the shelf when I'm at a fish shop instead of taking my time to look up the best deals.

Also, RODI system. Go to bulkreefsupply.com right now and look at what they have. It's a must to keep algae out of the tank. Sure you can buy it already mixed, but that'll get expensive pretty quickly.
