Hello all,

I want to start a refugium, my sump has an area for it, but I currently have my apex probs in that area. My question is does it matter if there are probs are in a refugium? Or if I switched my probs with heater, and then the heater would be in refugium? What would you guys recommend? Thanks

Probes can be anywhere really. Its best to keep them way from light just because algae will grow on them. Put them between some baffles, retur or drain section.
Could you elaborate on baffles, return or drain section? Maybe even a picture. Sorry for my ignorance just not sure what you mean.

what kinda of light are you leaning onto? im currently looking at par 38s as they are affordable , but unsure of what spectrum and stuff , can someone lead me in the right way

Im thinking of the tunze ecochic water proof led light. I want to submerse it and have it pointed up. Supposedly helps with better growth and not having light all throughout your sump. Saw this technique on a brs video and liked the idea. Again I am new to refugium and have no experience, just going on what I’ve researched.

Attached are photos of my sump with labels.

My fuge light is waterproof but I’m pretty sure it’s not submersible. I’ve never seen a submersible grow light, only swimming pool lights. What light are you looking at? Thanks.

I agree that the probes should be in an area that doesn't receive illumination on a regular basis. See below my fuge below. If you possible, i see plenty of benefit with it in a separate compartment

Awww thanks bro... really appreciate it. Yeah on blocking the light, my fuge light does not leak in the skimmer section AT ALL. Never have to worry about algae growing in the skimmer.

what are you plannin with those 4 holes to pump back into sump

probez not in fuge section, actually nothung in fuge except maybe heater and awc return. not ato return, not trident intake, not dosing lines. trust me. i just exited triton method so my sump was alllll fuge. and fwiw kessil is the only light id put over a fuge. no questions asked. i looked at tunze lights. kinda pathetic but it depends on what your goals for fuge are. this was two weeks harvest with h380. keep in mind this is the harvest nit the main chunk. i have to DOS no3 amd PO4.

Seriously, this is a work of art. I'm going to blow it up and replace my poster of Thylane Blondeau!
