Starting an sps tank, recommended essentials?

Hey guys thanks for being so helpful with all the questions I've had this far, picking up my 40 gallon IM Nuvo tomorrow and going to take everything nice and slow when it comes to cycling both for the overall health of the tank and to give myself time to save money for the right equipment the first time (instead of wishing I had dished out further down the road).

I guess my question would be if you were starting your sps build over again what would you do differently? What equipment would you recommend as an essential and what is just fluff? Did you do dosers and reactors from the get go or did you pick them up after you started stocking coral? Also what do you suggest in a CUC and are there any fish maintenance wise you would suggest?

I would say that some must haves are RO/DI filter, auto top off kit, quality test kit, and quality refractometer w/ solution. I would also say dosers for alk/cal but I've also seen people who dose manually and have great results.

I would say in addition to RO/DI, ensure you have good powerheads with the right amount of flow, lights to achieve 300 PAR through much of the tank.
