I got in to the hobby briefly awile back then shut everything down due to some changes.. now I'm ready to start back up.. I've still got everything from my tank including my live sand and rock eventho its prolly dead now.. have had it down for 5 years now.I'm wanting to start up slow so I'm useing a 3 gal nano.. question is is how I should start it back up...what do I need to do to the rock and sand.. could I clean them both then just seed each with some live rock and some live sand or can I use them at all

Welcome back and yes you can reuse the rock and the sand. I would actually consider buying new sand though. Also welcome to R2R!

What would I need to do to the dead rock..do I just clean it good then just add some live rock to seed it

I took all my old live rock and just put it in some ro water for a couple days with a power head, then changed water and did it for another couple days. Did that for about a week then added to my tank with some dead lr. Seeded it with a rock from friends tank. Worked out good for me
