starting a frag tank and wondering if I need to wait for the tank to cycle before adding corals??

Yes, corals need stability. A tank not cycled could kill your corals. Ammonia and nitrate swings are not good for them.

Is this new Frag tank going to be on an existing system?
If not I would say it is needs to cycle. You will experience algae blooms and all other fun new tank stuff.

Yeah its just as important if not more, frag tanks are different than displays, lots of in and outflow. If you mess up in the beginning, maybe skimp on a few steps you'll wind up having to start over again.

Some corals will be able to handle it, (ie: zoas) but definitely better to be patient if you can wait. You'll spend a lot of time picking algae off the corals otherwise. Or dipping. Haha

Give it at least couple weeks and you'll be thankful!

Make sure you seed the tank to help with the cycling process.
