Starting fresh

Looks great man! Just curious what kind of possum wrasse did you order? I really love my yellow banded.

Thanks! I got the yellow banded as well. I'm pretty excited about it. Picking up my divided wrasse tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Your tank looks like it's doing awesome too!

Well my lubbocki wrasse didn't make it. Yesterday he didn't come out to eat so I started poking around the rocks. Noticed him slumped over inside the rocks I was able to get him to move, once I got him outta the rocks I realized he was breathing heavy. Then he started swimming in circles. [emoji853]

He died a few hrs later. Sad day. [emoji22]

Sorry about that, the Cirrhilabrus wrasses are generally healthy. Lubbocki's can be collected from a variety of locations so the health can vary. The deeper species have to have their swim bladders vented while decompressing but I would be surprised if that is your problem with the lubbocki. Parasites can occur as well. Was anything potentially picking on the new fish? Many, if not most, fairy wrasse collectors use acclimation boxes for a few days to get the tank mates used to the new fish as fairy wrasses can be a bit submissive at first (not all species, but many).

Sorry to hear that man. The lubbocki's seem to be a very low key and kinda timid for fairy wrasses. The one I tried died from what seemed to be minor bullying.

I didn't see any of them picking on it. In the past I've used a acclimation/breeder net box. Worked well with my blue sided in the past.

Unfortunately the divided wrasse I ordered didn't survive shipping. Rough wrasse week [emoji853]
Hopefully my possum wrasse fairs well.

This past weekend I seeded the tank with even more pods [emoji7]

My mandarin is thankful I'm sure.

Also I added a blue star leopard wrasse. She's still been hiding in the sand but I've heard it takes a few days for them to venture out. Here's a pic of her drip acclimating in a small bucket. She's only an inch and half. Little girl.

where did you get the pods?? I seeded my tank with one bottle yesterday. buy looking for more.

I always buy from algae barn. If you sign up for their news letter you will get a coupon code for buy one get one free on the combo pack I have here. So like 10,000 plus pods and plankton for 60 bucks plus free shipping.

I've bought from them 5 times and love them.

Did you get it at am? They had just gotten a few in last week - I was very tempted to bring one home.

After 4-5 days my leopard wrasse is finally coming out everyday. Beautiful fish.

Currently I have diatoms in full bloom on my sand bed. I bought a bottle of vibrant after reading an encouraging thread here in r2r. I'm anxious to see if it clears up my diatoms. Bottle will be here Monday, I'll report bAck with my experience.

Also picked up a beautiful gold torch from @AquaSD here on r2r.

Looking good Caleb,...how about a full tank shot!?!?

I really want one of those Leopard Wrasse but I am concerned with them getting sand everywhere. Do they make a mess?:)

This leopard wrasse has been a model citizen compared to my potters wrasse. She hasn't created any sand storms at all.

I don't have many corals placed on the rock. Most are still sitting on the rack.
