Starting my 90 Build! From a 16g!

Just wanted to start to post my progress of the 90G Reef tank build.

Any advice and recommendations are welcome!, I am a newbie

So far i have installed just filled the tank and installed the sump and pump, nothing crazy yet

To come:

-Reef octopus 150 skimmer
-2x Radion xr30w pro g3 led lights
-Reef Link
-1x MP60 and 1xMP10
-BRS Dual reactor
-Tunze ATO
-Tunze Auto Doser

Yep, added my salt last night and will start the cycle.

What pump are you running for the return that it needs to be throttled down? 2 MP40s would be an excellent combination for that sized tank.

Im running a Eheim 1262 900gph, im still messing with the perfect flow. I had it turned down while the sand was settling. It was getting blown around

anyone know how i can reduce the noise of the return to the sump? I have straight peices of pvc going into the water but i still get crzy bubbleing and gurgleing noise.

I use Maggie Mufflers on mine and they work really well

Full siphon herbie method. It worked for me. Maggie muffler is nice but I still had some a little noise with it. Do your drains go under water line in sump? After the fog clears in your tank get rid of the filter socks they are nitrate factories. Many people disagree with that. But think about it you are filtering water through something covered in poo. The bad stuff from the poo will affect your water quality. Let your skimmer do its job that is what it is designed to do. I only use filter socks when messing with the tank sand bed.

Save the money and look into jaebo wp 25. spending $800 on pumps is just stupid!

I was messing with it last night.

Seems the noise is from air mostly in the lines and water splashing around in the sump in the first sock

I do have some pvc so the water returns into water in the sump, but im still getting alot of bubleing noise and gurgleing.

i think i need to move the Tee to the center with some street elbows to even up the flow to each bulkhead on the sump, and possibly add another Tee to vent some of the air.

Thoughts??

Yeah i need to find a diagram on how to make the upside down durso, im kind of lost on how to acomplish that.

But right now i am using a regular durso stand pipe in the drain

This is the basic concept. You want the air to have a place to go before it enters the water. There are a few ways you can plumb this.
