Starting my first saltwater tank

Well, I went and ordered it. According to this: https://www.marineandreef.com/Articles.asp?ID=121

...it's only for soft corals and live rock. Is that true or do they just want me to buy the 600 dollar one? I'm guessing this 200 dollar one will at least do for now. Later when I have more money and have some kind of clue as to what's going on, I can upgrade it.
