So it seem to me that i will be starting over with Lighting. I cant seem to get these RR lights to grow anything. It will kEEP the LPS alive but not growing. If your were to go buy T5 lighting and not spend a crazy amount of the BIG $$$$ haha, which one lighting would it be?

I thought about getting that before paying $320 on the lights i have now. Will you post some spec on your tank, and do you run more than 1??

I'll take a couple of pics to show some before / after and post later this evening.

75g with two lights. I've only got a skimmer and combo gfo/carbon reactor. no filter socks in the sump.

sorry...this week ended up being pretty crazy with work and after work events...I'll try to get some tonight.

Ok, here we go. I don't have a before of the first one but the branches are now 2 1/2 - 3 ". they were about 1 1/2" when I got it back in June / July.

got these two the beginning of May

If you're looking to go t5 and save some money, try retrofit kits. The retrofit that I bought from BRS are the same components that go into many of the high end brands. If you don't need the bells and whistles light being dimmable then the retros are the way to go. I switched from LED only to T5 retros running ATI blue+ with one coral+ and reefbrite LED supplements about 8 months ago and have been very happy. That said I'm also using Kessills on another tank and am very happy with those as well. Kessil has taken the guess work out of balancing color levels and I have seen several examples of good growth with the kessills. They're more money but you won't be changing bulbs 8 months from now.
The key to remember with T5s is to choose quality bulbs and change every 8-12 months. ATI or Geismann are the best. I know there are examples of successful tanks with other brands but the best tanks I've seen are running one of these or even combos of both.

I had great growth with my reef radiance lighting, in 9 months my Duncan went from one head to ten, and I've had a number of zoas go from on to 20 polyps or more. For sheer PAR for the dollar reef radiance can't be beat. Are you sure that it's the lighting?

I'm going to get this cyano under control, get myself a hanna checker and then ill probably go with some kessilsx2 if these dont start growing.

It sounds like it might be a chemistry issue, not a lighting issue...

Try blocking off the Reds may help get rid of the cyano. My tank went to ulns do to a huge vinegar overdose and the cyano is still there. It is a bacteria. Try a 3 day lights out it should go away. I have a reef breeders fixture. I get some growth it just seems to be slow on lps

Well it seem to be something that i cant put my finger on. Due to since July i have not had any cyano AND now im having a break out. But still does not key into the growth of the corals I wuld think.
