So I was just doing water changes with this tank but corals are growing, Parameters are dropping too much and wg’s doesn’t seem to be keeping up anymore..

My alk,mag and cal could all be alittle higher and I had just done a 20% water change 2 days before getting these results.
(Alk 7.7 cal400, mag 1290)

what has caught my eye my lps are happy but my sps are losing color (dull) not browning, and barely any polyp extension. I was going to use kalk but that won’t raise mag, right? Should I go with brs 2 part?

Do you think it would help to also add acropower or some amino/trace elements? This is currently for a 20gal but I’m setting up my redsea 650p in the near future.
Thank you!

I dose bionic 2 part for alk and cal daily. Mag is only a weekly dose by hand. Aminos can be beneficial but depends on your current nutrient levels for nitrates and phosphates. Have you done a recent ICP test to look at everything.

A 20g is 15g volume with rocks. Weekly 20% water change should suffice but maybe a little hand dose of alk and cal.

You might actually do without dosing regularly as water changes should still address consumption .
You could bump alkalinity with one time Sodium bicarbonate dose.
Salinity/sg also effects Ca and dKH level and so does salt mix brand.

Yeah it was pretty stable but now that the frags are double/tripled and about twice as many frags it seems to be sucking more up than I can keep up. I have dosed baking soda to keep alk closer to 9 but now that mag has dropped I was thinking I could probably dose more. I already have 2 dosing pumps for my 150gal so I don’t mind hand dosing til that’s running. I could probably do a couple decent water changes and get everything back in order just figured it may be simpler to dose in between.

I hand dosed for a few months until consumption got to large then went to daily dosing. For your frag tank a little hand dose is fine if you determine weekly water changes are not keeping up. Typically though water changes should be enough but it also equates to the salt mix you are using and what the salts parameters are.

I’m going to try and do a couple 2gal water changes then a 5gal maybe Monday. Maybe I can get back on top of it. Just do more water changes and stay on top.

What Salt are you using? Sometimes changing a salt to match the perimeters you are reaching for is way easier than starting to chase dosing and testing all the time. A 20 gallon should be very easy to maintain levels to grow corals.
