Hello,

I am starting a new tank and have everything set up. I have read and heard allot about putting in a raw shrimp and letting it decompose.

I am trying it now and have had it in for about 24 hours. It is really starting to smell like rotting seafood...

Is this normal or should I take it out??

That is normal. Put it in a net so when it decomposes it will not get all over your tank.

Sounds good.

Now another question. I went and bought about 10 lbs of live rock and I put it in the tank. I was looking g in there a couple hours later and notice there was a crab hitchhiking on it.

It is now eating the shrimp. Is this bad???

Nope. It's a good thing. Hermit eats (breaks down) the shrimp into poop/ammonia to feed your live rock... You're on your way!

Awesome. That's good to hear. Thanks for the quick replys.

Also, might want to lightly stire you sand. Air trap under sand is bad.
