I bought a 285 gallon tank about 2 years ago and just now I'm starting to have some funds to get it started. I currently have a 125 gallon tank that has been up for 7 years. I'm planning to use all the live rock from that tank as well as about 150 more pounds. I'll be using all new sand. My question is should I use 125 gallons of water from my old tank. Or should I just do a hundred% new saltwater?

Welcome to R2R !:)

Without knowing anything more about how you plan to switch the tanks over....
If you didn’t have any issue with your old water, using it would be a good thing and less stress on you livestock when added. (Already balanced)
Using all new saltwater would have no advantage at all, in fact it would hold you back.
It would cut down on your new tanks cycle time too.
Another good idea is to use some of the existing tanks sand and mix it with the new, since it is loaded with life that would take a long time to acquire otherwise.

If it were me, I would use freshly made RODI water and start the system with clean saltwater water to get you off to a good start, but if your happy with the old waters nutrient levels, contents etc., theirs nothing wrong with using some off it as already said above

And welcome to R2R as well!
