It would be interesting to read that.
I grew up in Santa Cruz California.
My father was a civil engineer and the water director.
During the drought as a kid we were allotted 5 minutes to shower . Then he'd turn the water off.
He was one of the first to treat waste water with large rock filters, ammonia to nitrate, etc.
He taught me never to waste water so even now, 40 years later all rodi water gets used in my house for something.
I try at least.
Sorry for rambling.
Sensitive subject I guess.
Thanks for reading.

It got to the point where my wife finally said do whatever you need to do so you stop flooding the place.

I now have a fully automated saltwater mixing station with plenty of bells and whistles. :)
Ahhh…. You went with the old “the beatings will continue until morale improves” approach I see… well played good sir! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I haven’t seen a post lately about what everyone is doing wit their waste water from their rodi units ?
I’m justifying all the fees on my water bill…. Water is cheap…. It’s all the other stuff that they throw on there that makes the bill high.

Agree with it being cheap
High extras being the municipal workers wages being the highest .

And wait still goes on.....2/3 filled but dang rodi takes forever lol. It will take a day and half to fill my spare container to store

You could have went an alternate route and used distilled or just ro water from a water depot .
But rodi water is the best .

Have you checked the tds of the water coming out from the start and compared to to now ?

Guarantee the resin has taken in a lot and possibly stating to reject less

No I have not. I'm getting roughly 5 gallons every hour and 20 mins. The sediment filter definitely changing to a yellow color.

If you have a tds meter. .built in to the unit or a hand held .
It might be producing the same value as your source water and just wasting time and water

I am currently starting up my tank this evening. Live sand and dry live rock are in. My ro/di running but very slow filling up 5 gallon buckets of water. If it gets early late tonight can I finish with tap water or can I leave it sit until morning? What's my options?

Thank you
Some LFS sell RO water for not that much. I took a bunch of buckets to them and had them fill it up so I could get the tank full and salt mixed before nightfall since my RO is pretty slow too

I finally have the tank full and salt levels are good. I added Dr Tims one and only to the tank. Let the tank sit with no flow or filter for 45 mins. Added flow and filter. No carbon just sponge and ceramic nodes to start the biological filtration. Temp is 78F.

Hopefully the cloudiness will disappear by morning.

Thanks for help everyone. Let the cycling begin!!

If you were asking if flow on or off .
Turn it on and run it as you plan to later you want the bacteria to colonize everywhere lights on isn’t necessary neither is running a skimmer ( no organics to remove )
But if you choose to run a skimmer , now is a great time to let it run to “break in “

Happy reefing

From this point forward in life the sound of water will always be required
