Anyone ever tried Startrail Photography?

Last night ws my first attempt with what equipment I had, I currently have the other equiptment I need on order, but this was my first fry!

To take these pictures its actully VERY simple and not hard at all, and to merge the photos together is simple aswell when your using the startrail program!
 
It looks like a whirlpool in the sky,lol. Very interesting indeed! I may have to try it sometime!
 
Thanks! It took me a bit to figure out where to take it.

TIP #1-Take pictures facing the north.
 
I've done startrail photography, but it's been a long time. Your tip about facing north is RIGHT ON. In fact, if you can center your image, on the North Star, it works out best.

Tip #2. Get AS FAR AWAY from any source of artificial light, as possible.
 
Unfortunately, my house was covering the north start, so I tried to get to the center of it all as much as possible, but that was slot harder than I had figured it would be. Since this was my first time doing these pictures I didn't want to mess with multiple exposursures more than I already had been, haha! Any pics of yours Sid?
