So I just had my aha moment in reefing.
It was all based around the concept of balancing my bioload with all my gear. It came when I realized I might be starving my Chaeto refugium with excess chemi pure, purigen, Etc. I get that now.

So here is my next, necessary, question. Am I, in that same spirit, starving my Matrix media with using too much chemical filtration?
That is to say I understand this balance now and does it apply to this question as well?
Will I never have a rich bio media based bacterial culture if the chemi pure or even the refugium is stealing all the goodies and starving The Matrix?

In other words say I just went with Filter floss in front of my chaeto refugium and no chemi Pure or purigen Etc.
And assume my refugium is kicking butt. Can my refugium starve out my Matrix bio media?
I'm starting to think I might want to try going with just filter floss, Matrix media, and a strong refugium. And supercharge the thing with switching to a more powerful pump.

BTW. Currently using an EVO 13.5 with 13 lb of live aragonite 10 lb of live rock, three small fish, four snails and an ACKE 12W fuge light on 12/12 opposing schedule and a modest to small LPS/Soft bioload.
