I know this topic has been discussed in the past but I am very confused on what is going on here. I do my chemistry checks every Sunday and today I have a unexpected change in my Calcium.
History: Dosing BRS 2 part along with TM part C. My bubble algae eradication process raised my NO3 but has steadily been coming down to my setpoint. I use both Hanna and Red Sea Pro test kits for Alk and Ca, ( Double Check ).
Today my measured Ca was 400ppm with Red Sea and 402ppm with Hanna. It has never been this low ever. I understand that NO3 has a affect on Alk but not sure by how much.
To get my Ca back to 450ppm that would require a dose of 1305ml of BRS calcium chloride which makes absolutely no sense to me. I am only dosing 72ml of Alk and Ca per day to maintain levels but for some reason my calcium did a big drop from last weeks test's and not sure why. I did a 10% water change last week and I just checked my storage tank and it is at 450ppm Ca.
The only thing I can think of is I got a bad batch of Calcium Chloride. I mixed a new pouch last week and put it in my dosing container. Below are my test results along with the levels in my dosing containers. Alk on the left and Ca in the middle. As you can see they are at the same level so dosers are measuring accurately. Any thoughts on what is going on here would be appreciated.
