I would do a step further and say you want to collect as far out as you can during incoming tide not necessarily high tide. If it is high tide but during outflow all of that junk from the bay will be near the inlet.

I used to collect it in LIS and it was always lower salanity. That was years ago in another tank.
I probably wouldn't do it now unless it was off shore. Reason being the recent studies of suntan lotion and how it works also on coral. I want my coral to get light.
