Steel/Aluminum Stands Question.

Morning all. I see some members have used steel and or aluminum stands for their tanks. I love the look of them and the strength they have. My question is are these members enclosing the frames in something so it resembles a more traditional cabinet or are they leaving it open? If enclosing how is that done?

Quite a few options.

Magnetic wooden panels with receiving magnets drilled into the aluminum using regular self tapping screws.

You can build a 3 sided self standing facade with doors that simply sits on the floor and hides the stand and legs of the stand.

Aluminum stands made with the rally aluminum you can cut pieces of 1/4” wood and slide then right into the t-slot groves enclosing the stand.

You can use a stiff cloth to make a drape around the bottom of the stand.

You can make the tank in wall and never have to worry about enclosing the stand.

You can glue or silicone 1/4” plywood sealed with kilz to the stand or use self tapping screws and screw it into the stand.

I mean most of the build a facade out of wood is easy because none of it would be structural. So you can get really creative since your working on a flat surface. You can surface mount doors make the doors as big as you want, add trim and moulding to make it look nice....

Magnets are common for both, then you can buy doors of any type. For 80/20, there are various off-the-shelf door hinges. For now, I'm using HDPE (plastic) panels with magnets on my stand. I intend to replace them with something nicer from either a cabinet maker or something custom from @Elder1945 in the future.
