Haven't figures that out yet. I was going to go with how much space I had to work with and see what I can fit in a balanced layout.
Probably the 48 or 72 LED kit that Aqua Style Online has.

If you do 72, thats 36 per side. I would do 4 rows with 6 leds per row. With a a t5 on the front and back. Maybe try and squeeze two t5s in the front and the back. If you did that, i can honestly say you have all the light you would need.

That's going to be kind of tight. 4 rows would make the heat sink about 7" wide. That only leaves about 2 1/2" in front and back of the heat sink.
I'm not even sure I could fit 1 on both sides in 2.5".

If I were't going with the T5's what would you suggest?

I'm sure I could do a custom kit of like 84. (42 on each side) and stagger them 11, 10, 11, 10.

It's probably going to be a custom kit anyway because I want to go with the MeanWell LPF-60D-48 driver (Built-in 3 in 1 dimming function (1~10Vdc or PWM signal or resistance)) that is manually dimmable and controller dimmable. The connection would be 2 strings of 8-12LEDs in parallel.(16-24 LEDs).

For a tank your dimensions it would be best if uz did long row of leds like a diy reefbrite strip with 2 t5 and 2 strips of 18 leds would be more than enough to grow sps on sandbed.

Oops my math is off 6x4= 24. Sorry just got off of work. My brain is fried.

I would reccomend having atleast 2 t5s with your leds.

So either 3 rows with 12 leds per row

Or do like Gmoney did and a t5 then a 48" single row of leds then another t5 and so on.

it is a long tank, but it's got a brace in the center of it and with my current PC I see a shadow on the rocks from where the brace is, so I was looking at 2 heatsinks like greg0385 did and I would have 1 on either side of the brace with the same LED layout (once I figure it out).

I think I'm leaning towards greg0385 latest suggestion of...

Update: corals accepted the led lights quite well, im seeing colors and growth and nothing is fading/bleaching.

I havent forgot about posting a video, just been crazy with work and i just received my new jabeo wp40 and i have been tweaking it to be in the video. I will have video posted by this weekend.

I just stumbled across this myself and actually understand what's going on here.
I've wanted to build my own for some time so I can get the colors that I want, and seeing this, it doesn't seem all that tough, just need some patience. Thanks

I paid $287 for the led lights, and around $64 on material from home depot. So roughly $350 total

No his lights would bake ur corals lol. U need about 1/4 as many leds.

Sacohen has the same size tank. I believe he is going with 72 leds and 2 t5s.
But to answer your question, yes you can fit my leds over your tank. If you did i would suggest lesser degree optic or your going have to turn them way down.

Keep in mind, im getting 500 par 16" down and 250 par on the sandbed 31" and thats with 60Â° optics and no t5s on
