Step by Step Salt Water Mixing Station Build

Hello!

So I will be moving into my new home in less than a month and after we move in, the first thing I want to do is make myself a full RODI/Salt Water mixing station in the garage. I haven't found any really good guides online for it. Anyone know of any good threads on here or have a guide of their own?

What does your RODI setup look like?

Here is my setup. The red line is pre D/I and I use that for household drinking water. Blue line is going to the Brute and it has a float valve in it to always keep it full of RO/DI water.

What space available, size containers and esthetic appeal are you after?

I found a few useful videos online. Once I got the concept and functionality understood, it was easier to wrap my head around.

I did a few lay outs (in excel) to get general ideas. I ended up going very simple from where I started (due to space limitations).

I did a few lay outs (in excel) to get general ideas. I ended up going very simple from where I started (due to space limitations).

I'm looking for something relatively simple. Two 30 or 50 gallon Brutes, a few pumps and some PVC. I also am considering running a long hose, whether it be garden hose adapter or not I haven't decided, so I can just run the hose into the house and have a controllable nozzle on it. No more buckets for me lol.

I'll try to elaborate...you can substitute out things based on what you're looking for. All connections use 1/4" RODI tubing.

RODI Setup:
Parts: AquaticLife Twist in compact RO/DI, Flow-lok leak detector, additional 1/4 tube saddle drain, RODI ASOV
Install:

1. Install AquaticLife Twist per instructions
2. Between supply line and AquaticLife input install Flow-lok leak detector (mechanical safety for a leak)
3. Add additional 1/4 tube saddle drain (for tank water removal)
4. Add auto-shutoff valve to RODI per instructions

Reservoir Setup:
Parts: Bashsea 10gal Reservoir, a vertical mechanical float valve, an RO/DI Flood Guardian - RODI Auto Shut Off, and a Tunze Nanostream 6020
Install:

1. Add vertical mechanical float valve to Bashsea Reservior (has a small hole for this - why I chose Bashsea)
2. Install RO/DI Flood Guardian - RODI Auto Shut Off per instructions (eye sits at 8gal in the reservoir)
3. Connect the output of RODI to Flood Guardian valve and from the valve to the vertical mechanical float valve
4. Install Nanostream in the bottom of the reservoir to constantly mix the water

AWC Setup:
Parts: GHL Controller, GHL Power Bar, GHL Float Switches, and GHL Maxi Doser
Install:

1. Install high/low float switches in the reservoir
2. Install high/low float switches in the sump
3. One Maxi dose head is used for waste and the output goes to 2nd saddle drain (input is from sump)
4. One Maxi dose head is for fresh ASW and the output goes to the sump (input from the reservoir)
5. Maxis are programmed to incrementally change the saltwater as long as the reservoir ASW is above the low float sensor and the sump high sensor isn't tripped (high should only happen when something isn't right)
6. Plug the Flood Guardian into a GHL controlled outlet
7. The GHL is programmed to monitor the reservoir for low water and stop AWC, turn on the flood guardian (which will fill the reservoir)m and notify you to add salt and restart the AWC

Here is what I have setup. It eliminates certain things from other setups but is capable due to my space.

Top Unit is RODI water, fed via 5 Stage system. It drains via gravity into the lower unit. Holds 65 gallons of water. In the salt water container I have a very small pump with a piece of PVC and 'T' joint to move water from the bottom of the unit to the top for mixing. Since it is in my garage it also has a heater, not to prevent freezing since that doesn't happen but to ensure the water isn't 40 degrees and more in the 60s/70s. I then use the APEX DOS to do the water change itself. The piece of braided hose is there for times when I just need RODI water. I can easily fill for 2 part dosing, or whatever I require.
