Im guessing 5ppm of nitrates .. is that correct? These dang API kits would make you think you’re color blind lol

Looks like 5 to me too! And.. they made me think the same thing and then I went out and bought Salifert lol!

Looks like 5.0 ppm to me. If you haven't considered, you should invest in a better Nitrate test kit. My recommendations would be Red Sea or Salifert.

Yea. I think I should. 5ppm is ok to have right ?

Yeah, 5 ppm is okay. I am aiming for a 5 ppm stable N03 for my tank. It all depends on your tank though, some people run high nutrients and some run low nutrients. You just have to keep an eye on your inhabitants to see if they are reacting positive or negative to the nutrients. However, the spot to be at for nutrients is to keep nitrates around 0-10 ppm and phosphates below .05 ppm.

That’s exactly what I have .. 5ppm nitrates , and phosphates is low. The Hanna checker for phosphates is on my list of items to get , but according to the API kit , it’s very light green almost yellow. So im guessing it’s low. My tank was started 11/2017 and all my corals seem very happy. My one polyp Rasta is now growing a new polyp. My scrambled egg zoas went from 4 to 7 now and my Duncan ( bought with 1 head ) is now growing 2 more heads.

Sounds like you are doing good, just keep it up and enjoy your tank. Also, good choice on the Hanna best investment I ever made.

Thanks buddy. Gonna get that and a tds meter.
