Stephanie's First Marine Escapade!

your # are looking almost in check.
If you run low nutrients you have to bring your ALK down as other wise you will burn the tips.
Mag might come up a bit.
Yes Kalkwasser is a good product to dose but as with everything else you need to know your consumption first from your tank.
Without that you might dose to much or not enough.
I would try to figure out first if you can keep it up with a twice a week WC of 2 gallons each time.
If # stay in check your good and don't have to worry about dosing yet.

Good point, but can't say that I won't go for it. My LFS showed me their stock and they are eating frozen food. Hopefully it will work out!

That's certainly a good sign!

So here is the nard dawg! He has been eating frozen a combo of PE mysis shrimp/bloodworms (I got to see him eat at the local LFS in person). He has been eating from me as well, but I bought tigger pods and will be adding them twice monthly just to be safe. Pushed back my skimming schedule to 10 hours a day in order to help the copepod population.

What are people's experience with clams? I am interested in a derasa clam that AquaSD has, but wanted feedback. Is my tank too new?

Awesome tank!! Just started mine about a month ago. Same 40gal!

Just did some testing, my parameters are looking good I think!
Nitrate - 5ppm
PH - 8.0
ALK - 8DKH
CAL - 430
PHOS - 0
MAG - 1350
