I recently sold my IT support company and will be stepping away from the reefing hobby for a while as my wife & I spend some time traveling and deciding on when and where to resettle. I have really enjoyed participating in the Apex support forums, and I’m very happy that my series of Apex tutorials have been so popular. I don’t yet know my timeline, but I’m sure I’ll get sucked back into reefing at some point, but for now, please continue to read my Apex tutorial series and point other Apex users to them as needed to keep people informed on the best practices for Apex programming. It’s been an honor that so many of you have looked to me for guidance on the Apex, and I hope that the tutorials I wrote will live on in my absence.

Happy reefing!

I never really met you on the forums (I’m not big on the technology side of reefing) but I’ve seen some of your posts and I will bet you’re going to be missed!

Have safe travels and enjoy exploring the world! You definitely earned it! :)

As someone who works in IT and trading. I think its just standard that IT workers burn out. You need to step away. I don't think people realize how brutal working in IT really is.

I'm sure you're rich now though! Congrats!

Thanks for all you've given to the community !

Enjoy a deserved break,

Jim

Hate to see you go, but I'm sure your tutorials will teach many apex users in the future. I know I myself have learned many things from reading your posts, and I thought I knew most of the apex stuff!

Have a great time, and enjoy yourself. IT is a tough gig.

Want to personally thank @SuncrestReef for all your help and expertise. Getting the Neptune Apex, Trident, & DOS were game changers. But your expert write ups helped me get the most out of my controllers and take my aquarium to the next level!

Wish you safe and great travels. You will be missed!

Thank you for all your help!!!

Thanks, your Neptune series has helped me tremendously. The only thing that's constant is change, have fun with it. I predict however, that you are not throwing the internet away, we'll probably hear from you sooner rather than later. It's hard to quit cold turkey.

I also run a small IT Support company and I get out of bed every day thinking there's got to be a better way to make a living. We run the IT stuff for police departments, city-wide ambulance corps, multiple medical facilities, municipalities, law firms, etc.

Each one of their CEOs only has to worry about his one company. I have to worry about ALL of them. The pressure and anxiety is unbearable and the expectations, ridiculous.

Anyway, congratulations to the OP. I know, in a way others can't, how hard your journey was and well deserved is your vacation / retirement.

We run the IT stuff for police departments,

Rough. My father is a police officer and I would go in to ride with him often. We talked about their IT solutions and how bad they were. Typically here the city would go with the lowest bid, which ensured lowest quality. Their systems didn't talk to each other because every time a major project asked for RFP/bids, the lowest bid was selected, and thus different companies every time.

Many of the systems didn't even have single sign on.

IT can be stressful, but then there is penny pinching IT in the public sector and that is infinitely worse in my experience.

What will we do without you! :) Enjoy the break and most importantly enjoy life!

Wish you the best. You did a great job with your series of guides. I'm glad I could have been of help to you when you were first getting your feet wet with the apex and help you become an expert yourself.

This is Zombie BTW.
