If I were to run tap water and bleach through my system from tonight till Sunday would it sterilize my system. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and returning Sunday night, that's why it would be that long.

The tap will do nothing to sterilize, it adds bacteria. Our tap water is not sterile. The bleach w sterilize nicely. Among the few actions that will get very close to sterilization, bleach cleaning gets darn close

Thank you that's what I thought.

Bleach will do the job. After you return, drain the tank and let it air dry for 24 hrs min to let all bleach out of the system. Run carbon or poly filter in case.

I've done vinegar in the past but not sure how much sterilizing it actually does. The smell wasn't the best in the house but not too sure bleach will be much better.

would u mind explain pls how to use the bleach exactly
what is the ratio between bleach and water?
should i leave all system runing and for how many hours?
how long to leave all equipment to dry?
thanks

I have always used bleach unscented 1 gal to 300 gal of saltwater and let it run for 24 to 48 hrs. It will kill everything and clean all your rocks and pipes equipment etc it passes through.
Once it's done it's job I drain all the system and let it sit dry for atleast 48 hr, and longer if you have deep sandbed.. once dry fill water back up in tank, I usually let Rodi unit fill tank up as it's all dead anyways then mix salt in it and run carbon or poly filter for few days.
Cycle the tank it's brand new all over again.

i am allmost done stocking my fowlr tank
since i didnt do proper quarantine and i had some issues in my tank ( could be uronema)
i am thinking of doing restart and sterilize my dispaly while doing quarantine for all my fish
i just want to make sure i dont have major issue in my tank and i got the time and equipment for doing so
anyway for 130 gallon of water i only need 0.5 gallon of bleach?
wouldnt be better to mix the bleach with freshwater without salt?
i dont have sandbed

You can mix bleach with current saltwater and let it run for 2-3 days or you can drain it and mix it in freshwater won't make a difference. But mixing with freshwater you will need to drain tank twice and fill it twice.
Either way job will be done.
1/2 gal of bleach should be just fine.
