So with my tank being replaced under warranty I am going to have to start my tank over. I have some flat worms in my tank, but they are the non worrisome v tailed flatworms. I am going to take this opportunity to sterilize all my equipment to try to eliminate having these flatworms follow along. Whats the best practices to do this? Will just a full strength vinegar work, or a bleach bath?

Things to sterilize:

Sump
Skimmer
Return pump

Why do you want to get rid of the flatworms? I like vinegar. Some people use bleach, citric acid is best I believe

The population of them is quite high. Every morning when the lights are off if you look at the glass they are all over the place, when the lights come up they all move to an area just above the sand. Is there a reason I should keep them? Is there something I'm missing?

If it were me, I’d...

Give it a good soak in a citric acid or vinegar mix.

Then give it a good scrub to clean it up.

Rinse with some RO water.

Then let air dry for a day or two.

This is more or less what I was thinking, Just wasn't sure what cleaning solution would work best. Thanks for the input

I'll admit I don't know much about flatworms but I have a handful of the white harmless ones in my sump and they are just free clean up crew imo

I use to only have just a few, but over the last few months my population has exploded. I have a melanurus wrasse that doesn’t seem to interested in eating them, so just figured I would eradicate them when I have to start over anyway.
