they're a sponsor and they have a thread on this there. i tried it, i got the diatom bloom, but after that, i haven't noticed anything different in my tank. i also got some cyano when i started too and was trying to fight that.

I tried it as recommended and I got a cyano bloom myself. They told me that it was pulling nutrients out of sand bed. I have stopped using it but the cyano has not gone away yet.

I was thinking about using this but everything I have heard is not good, at least for reef tanks apparently it does well in planted fresh tanks.

I use it every week and barely wipe the glass. No signs of algae or cyano..... I started using it when I had cyano an that helped (not only thing I used) I also see signicant coral growth spurts about every other week (with help of other things). Nualgi is good tho.

I agree with Skipper. When I first started using it, I got a bad diatom bloom. I then cut the dosage in half after the diatoms were gone. Starting at half dose, I got cyano in the very low flow areas of the tank. I syphoned it off. I use it every WC now and no seen diatoms, no cyano and no algae. Who cleans their glass?...I rarely do:wink: Patience and going slow works wonders. I definitely have less detritus when I turkey baste the rocks. I am a firm believer that it works in getting the detritus from the SB and rocks. Not all, but it sure helps! Corals are very healthy and colorful....

I've been dosing it for 3 weeks now. I have been trying to fight a slight hair algae problem after coming home from week long business trip and tank maid severely messed things up. So far I have the diatom bloom, it comes and goes. The hair algae is not becoming any worse. Corals actually do look fuller/ healthier. I have been on a Red Sea managment program with dosing and using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. My problems have been consistant with variable MG and DKH. Swings drop in 1-3 days. from 12 to 8.1 dkh. MG drops 1500 - 1320. I have not added any of the Reef Energy. Corals continue to look healthy altogether. Acans show new heads, acros show more coloring. Tank looks really good.

I had not gotten cyano from the Nualgi, it was poor care of a reef tank and the cyano was horrible! I started making changes, moved into SPS and my tank is doing great! But patience, as everyone says is key, even this tank is only turning two next year I work very hard on it! A little off topic tho. Lol. I often turkey baste the rocks, but don't remember the diatom bloom. Huh?

These pictures are a before using Nualgi and after 3 weeks. A noticeable difference.
